The BJP has not given a big blow to Kashmir, Ladakh is not a union territory, the MP resigns
Chhawang said in his letter that he has decided to resign from the party and the Lok Sabha because he has no intention of taking political advantage. However, he is now obliged to pursue his ideas. On Thursday, Jammu Kashmir BJP President Ravindra Raina had said that 71-year-old leader has resigned from the House and party to pursue his "spiritual life" because he is suffering from health related problems.
As a local representative, Chhawang said that his condition was increasingly becoming morally and politically unstable and the party and its central leaders gave very little attention in fulfilling that promise made in the last Lok Sabha elections that the Ladakh region Will be given status of Union Territory within six months.
Responding to Chavang's letter, Raina said that the Ladakh MPs were not politically active for last one and a half years. He said that the status of Union Territory for Ladakh was included in the BJP manifesto and it was discussed several times at the party level.
