Join the Letter Day St Movement
While living in New York, Kimball joined the local Baptist Church and was eventually baptized. Three weeks later, the original name of the Letter de Saint Church, founded by Joseph E. Smith, three elders of the Church of Christ, went home to his friend Phineas Young. Kimball toured home this time and was impressed by church teachings. He also saw the interpretation of tongues and languages during this visit. He claims to tour with the power of God.

During this time, Kimball said that he and many young families had seen a sight about "saints gathering of saints". He was inspired to travel to Pennsylvania where he could go in the long run with the elderly, and he was accompanied by some young people. They stayed with the elderly for six days and saw more miracles, such as speaking in tongues and languages.

On April 16, 1832, Kimball was baptized by Alfius Gifford. After the confirmation, the elderly offered to hand Kimball to the priest, but Kimball refused because he thought he was already. Thirty more people were baptized in Mendone and made a church church there.

About this time, people called Kimbal "mad", although he claimed that he was "wearing the right mind." He claimed that the Scriptures have been revealed to him. Local clerics and members of other religions soon became opponents towards the small Letter-Day Saint branch and its members. Kimball had executed many people to remember a lot of debt on their property, which he was able to pay fully again.
